Maren - This year I turned 11! I have always had big birthday bashes with lots of friends and lots of fun. Recently I have really discovered that I enjoy an amazing experience with my family as much as I do a birthday party. And, over the years, my smaller, more intimate birthday parties have been the most special. This year I elected to have an outing with mommy for my birthday and decided to try and have a party after school started since many of my friends were out of town. Mommy and I drove up to Eugene for the weekend to do some school shopping. Its the first time I have ever gotten to go on a shopping excursion like that! I was so excited for the weekend away with just mommy! Unfortunately our trip got off to a bit of a bad start because and I was feeling pretty down. We went to the mall in Eugene but just could NOT find any clothes that I liked that fit me. Everything was way too big, baggy, too short, skimpy... but thankfully we found our old stand-by in Target and were able to find lots of cute stuff there. After a nice dinner out and some good snuggle time with a girly rom-com we finished our trip with some serious shoe shopping. An added bonus... we ran into Ms. Jenny and she stayed to shop with us! We had a ball trying on all sorts of fun shoes together then capped the trip with a trip to an amazing ice cream shop before heading home. Of course, I did get a wonderful birthday dinner with Nonna, Nonno, mommy, daddy and brother with my favorite yummy lemon cake to help me celebrate.
I have decided that I would like to give volleyball a try and mommy enrolled me in a summer camp at Crater High School. Emma Oppelt went too and I ended up having lots of fun. I am really looking forward to playing in the fall!
Maddox - Summer is in full swing and August is our last full month before we head back to school in the fall. Way back in June we were supposed to go visit Pennsylvania but if you remember, our trip was derailed by a Covid sickness in daddy and I. Mommy apparently had a fun trip to New York planned for all of us while we were there to celebrate Hayden's graduation and Nonnas birthday. Since we weren't able to do that we decided to take Nonna to the coast for a few days! Mommy rented us a really nice house with a great view of the beach and we had a really nice few days. We spent lots of time down on the Winchuck River, our favorite spot to hang out. Its nice and tucked back out of the wind and really protected from strong waves. Saturday was a beautiful day and we spent the entire day on the beach. We even worked with the dogs and got Clementine swimming on her own. Jo did it too but she wasn't super excited about it. Nylee tried once but jumped in pretty deep water and quickly decided she was out for swimming. At night we relaxed at the house and shared some amazing meals of fresh caught fish and clams. The last day we were there we got a surprise visit from Aunt Michelle and Uncle Frankie! They were over at the coast for the weekend too!
