Summer is finally winding down and school has started up again. We were supposed to go to family camp again this year at the coast but mommy and daddy planned something different. If you remember, we were just at Lake Almanor at the beginning of the summer and mommy noticed that Uncle Bill was a bit behind on his chores from taking care of sweet Aunt Evie. So, we loaded up and headed to the lake for the weekend. Nonna and Nonno came too! We spent all day Saturday helping Uncle Bill get the house ready for winter. We hauled and stacked wood, repaired steps, cleaned gutters and so much more. In fact we even gave Uncle Bill his very first ever pedicure, and he's only 92!! We of course made time for the lake and some swimming... I even got to show off my mermaid tail to Uncle Bill. On Monday we headed home to get ready for school to start on Tuesday but I stayed a bit late and rode home with Nonna and Nonno. That morning I had peach cobbler for breakfast with Uncle Bill and then just he and I took a walk together. It was a great weekend.
I am officially a second grader now. I will admit that I'm not too stoked with school just yet, but I'm trying. My teacher, Mrs. Gordon, is really nice and I have a couple of really good friends in my class so that helps. The best thing about school is that twice a week I get to ride the bus to Madrone Hill Ranch afterwards to ride. Mommy has made arrangements with Sonja for me to do that instead of going to Mustard Seed and I really love it. One day each week I do a pleasure ride on Jack and one day I have a lesson.
Maddox:
Our last weekend outing for the summer was great fun. I really enjoyed going to the lake and hanging out with Uncle Bill. I was a great help with all of the chores we did and was a really good boy. Obviously my favorite part of the weekend was swimming and I really showed off my skills. It took me a bit of time to warm up but once I did I was a mad man! I jumped off the dock and did all kinds of tricks for everyone. Mommy even got out there and did some crazy stunts with us too!
I'm not super stoked about being in school, even if it is just preschool. In fact, I have been pretty adamant that I am not going to go at all. Then, I found out that my good friend Lilly Oppelt was going to be going this year and my whole perspective changed. And, once school actually started, I think I'm having lots of fun. I am really enjoying my teacher Ms. Lisa and I'm having fun learning too. I can now officially write my own name!
