New Year... New Adventures!

Maren:
We are always busy around our house and things get more exciting every day.  My baby brother is in to everything and growing so fast.  By the end of the day my mommy often hears me tell him... "Go away Maddox!  I need some space!"  As much as I tell him this, he just doesn't seem to get it.  He just keeps on coming.  I am mommy and daddy's big helper when it comes to the little man.  I keep a close eye on him and let everyone know when he is doing something he shouldn't... which seems like all of the time!
My mommy recently decided to make our guest bedroom into a playroom for Maddox and I.  She moved the bed over which opened the floor up for all of our toys.  We LOVE playing in there and now our living room isn't constantly a mess.
My love for everything Frozen continues and my Nonna just bought me an awesome Elsa hat that has a braid!  I wear it everywhere I possibly can and it is even better when I can pair it with a Frozen themed dress or costume.  My mommy tells me that we are going to visit Elsa and Anna at Disneyland shortly after I turn 5 and that we need to start saving money.  I am now asking everyone that comes to our house for pocket change which I promptly put in my piggy bank!
Here is a cute little thing I said the other day on the way in to school... we were just coming to the top of Blackwell Hill and the sun was coming up in the horizon.  When I saw all of the colors I said:  "Look Maddox! The whole world is so beautiful! Wow God!"

Maddox:
The month is coming to an end and I am getting closer and closer to turning 1!  I am learning so many new things and finding so many ways to get myself into trouble.
For the most part, I am a pretty good eater but when I am done... I am DONE!  I may eat something really well for a few bites, but then will decide that I have had enough.  When I reach that point, I either spit the food out or grab it from my mouth.  I quickly follow that by throwing it onto the floor!  My mommy recently found out that I will eat my broccoli like a champ if she puts some hummus on it... yummy!  But again, I will only fall for that trick for a while.
I also have started using some sign language to everyones delight (Jan 18th).  I know the words "more" and "please" though I often don't use them in the right context.  Regardless, I am figuring it out and watching very closely when people "talk" with me.
Some other big milestones that have happened: I have officially mastered the stairs and I love climbing them when no one is watching.  Unfortunately, I am still pretty unstable (especially when I am going down) so mommy or daddy stay pretty close to me.  I love climbing up and down, up and down, up and down!  I could do it for hours!  I have also recently started dancing when I hear music I like (Jan 20th).  My favorite is a bear that used to belong to G.G.  It sings "Jesus Loves Me" and it always gets me moving!
Given that it is winter time, we have had a lot of rain and snow.  Often times the weather is too yucky to go outside but the other day my mommy found a window of sunshine and we went for a walk for some fresh air.  My sister was at dance class so it was just mommy and I and she let me get out of my stroller to play in the puddles.  It was really cold water but I had a great time!

Happy New Year!

Maren:
The new year is in full swing!  I started the year off with a few slumber parties over at Nonna and Nonnos house which gave my mommy and daddy the chance to have a long overdue date.  I love going to their house whenever I get a chance... my Nonna makes everything so special.  When I go, I love to get dressed up fancy... even if I am wearing my comfy clothes, I have to accessorize!
This winter continues to bring us snow, we have even had a bunch at our house even though it melts pretty quickly.  But, snow means sledding!  We have had a couple of really great adventures with Jace and Bella and I have been so brave!  I am sledding all by myself and even going down face first on my belly!  Jace and I love to race one another in separate sleds and we like riding together sometimes.  Our first outing together everyone got to come along.  My daddy built us a huge fire to stay warm and our mommies brought chili, hot dogs, and hot cocoa.  The second outing was impromptu by our mommies... we were supposed to go to story time at the library but a fresh falling of snow made them change course.  Just us kiddos and mommies went the second time so we didn't have a fire, but we still had a lot of fun.
We have been doing lots of fun things around here and my baby brother is changing before our very eyes.  His birthday is at the end of the month and I am getting really excited to help him celebrate.  I have been singing happy birthday to him already!  I am doing my very best to be a good teacher and to share but I am definitely finding it hard at times.  He crawls really fast and wants to play with everything that is in my hands!  He also doesn't understand me when I tell him I need personal space and that makes me a little angry.  But, overall, I love him to pieces!!

Maddox:
At the end of the month I will be 1 year old!  I am growing so fast and learning new things every day... some things my mommy isn't too thrilled about!  I have mastered the art of pulling myself up and standing... I am definitely close to walking any day now.  The toilet is a perfect height for me to pull myself up and I have figured out how to lift the lid.  When I do, I can reach down and splash in the water!!! Its so much fun!  But mommy gets really grumpy when I do and my sissy tries to drag me away.
Another thing I have learned to do is get in and out of the tub all by myself.  I just love the water and tubby time is one of my favorite parts of the day!  When I get in (or try) I hike my little chubby leg up over the edge and try to climb in.  Thankfully mommy is there to help because I can't quite get my leg over by myself.  Now, getting out is a totally different story.  Because my mommy is sitting on the floor right outside of the tub I just stand up and throw myself over the edge like a little seal.  I land right in her lap all dripping wet!  She and sissy think I am pretty funny when I do this and we all giggle like crazy!
