December is here and magic is in the air. Because Thanksgiving happened so late this year we were a bit behind in getting decorations and the tree. But as soon as December came, mommy was hot on it! We drove up the hill from our house, as always, to pick our tree and this year mommy decided to go with a cedar tree. We all agree that it is the most beautiful tree that we have ever had! Once we got it decorated with all of the lights on it, it officially seemed like Christmas. Mommy and Nonna got the snowflakes up before the tree was up and the house looks beautiful.
Sparkle has been back to her old, crazy tricks too! Silly things like taking a selfie with Maddox and I while we were sleeping, writing lyrics to Christmas carols on the toilet paper rolls with poop jokes.... "Rockin around the Christmas Pee", "Let it Go, Let it Go", All I want for Christmas is Poop!" and other silly things! What a naughty elf!
For Christmas Eve daddy was working so we spent the day with Nonna and Nonno. We went to church with them then bundled up with something warm to drink so we could go look at the lights. After a little drive around town we headed back to their place for a yummy dinner but then mommy took us home to bed so we could wait for Santa.
Christmas morning finally came and we had a big surprise that no one was really expecting. First, there were no presents under the tree from Santa like we normally get. Our stockings were full but next to them we had new luggage and a letter. In his letter Santa simply told us to go to a place called Eugene and he gave us a specific address there. He had packed a bag for all four of us and told us to leave in a big hurry. This set mommy into a tizzy since she had no idea what was going on. Thankfully she trusted Santa and rolled with it! When daddy walked in the door from work we all attacked him with the letter, shoved him into the car and were on our way! Maddox tells you the rest of the story below and I agree with him... this was definitely a Christmas that we will remember forever! We spent two nights at the Lodge and Santa had more surprises for us while we were there too. Our bags had new matching pajamas for brother and I and new swimsuits for us both! One of my most favorite things of the trip was learning how to body surf in the wave pool! The whole family would do it together... even Maddox!
A few days after we came home it was New Years Eve. Daddy worked so we spent the evening with Nonna and Nonno. We had a fun fondue party with chocolate fondue for dessert and then we played games. We watched the ball drop at 9:00 as it was actually happening in New York, did a bit of dancing, and were tucked in bed around 10:00. Looking forward to 2020!
Maddox:
I can't believe that December is finally here! Mommy was so proud of me because I was the first one in the family to actually request Christmas music. The music is playing, decorations are up, the lights are twinkling and Santa is on his way! This year when we went to get trees, sister and I both picked a little cedar tree for our bedrooms. Mommy gave us some of our very own decorations to put on them and we each got to pick a strand of lights. We decorated our trees and put them in our rooms and they turned out so beautiful. Every night was a Christmas delight when we got to plug in our trees for a night light.
I had my preschool Christmas program and got all dressed up. Mommy got me a bow tie with snow flakes and I wore a really nice sweater vest. I was such a handsome man! My good friend Lilly was dressed in a beautiful red dress and we looked so sharp together. My mommy surprised me by taking the day off to come to the program, then we all went out to lunch after.
Maren already told you about the big shock Santa gave us on Christmas morning and while it gave us a bit of a crazy feeling it ended up being a great adventure and a Christmas that we are sure to remember for a really long time. Eugene is about 2 hours away so we were literally chomping at the bit to find out where we were going. His letter said that once we arrived at our destination we were supposed to "Board the Sleigh", well it turns out that he meant a train! We showed up at the Amtrak station where one of his Elfs gave us tickets and seated us on a train headed north to a place called Centralia. We had so much fun for the 5 hours we were on the train... we build legos, played games, read books and watched the pretty scenes outside. When we got there mommy walked around and found another elf waiting for us with a car. That silly elf wouldn't tell us anything! She said Santa had sent her to take us somewhere fun so we loaded our luggage and climbed in. Turns out, our final destination was Great Wolf Lodge! Maren and I were so excited! The lodge was all decorated like a winter wonderland, just like at home. We spent two nights, and three days at the lodge and most of our time in the water. We played hard and I was a champ. My favorite place to be was in the wave pool. Anytime that thing was running you could find me in there jumping over the waves. What fun!
