Good luck mommy

Maren:
This last week we officially have an empty, full house! Our family has all left and mommy is on her own! I think she is kinda freaking out a bit not to have help but I am sure she is going to do great.
In the last few days that Nonna and Nonno were here we got to celebrate Nonno's birthday. I helped mommy make his favorite cake (a yummy coconut cake with cream cheese frosting) and I was super excited to give it to him. I helped light the candles and we sang happy birthday really loud! Just like last year I got to share a piece with him and it was yummy!
In the last week we still have been super busy. I started swim lessons and am doing really well. I have been practicing in our hot pool so I was super ready to show off my skills. After one day in the class they advanced me to the next level! I am learning so much and having so much fun!

Maddox:
I am growing right before my mommy and daddy's eyes! My cheeks get chubbier by the day and I am going longer and longer between meals (which means my tummy is getting bigger and can hold more).
I am spending more time awake which means I get to spend more face time with my big sissy. Don't get me wrong... I still spend most of my time sleeping and I love a good nap!
I had my first tubby with my big sissy too! Mommy stuck my tub down inside and Maren helped give me a bath! She got a little too excited and dumped some water over my head and I choked but we survived!

Family Time

Maren:
This last week has been pretty exciting... We have had lots of people visiting! My Auntie C's came from New Jersey, my Pica and Grammie came from Reno, and my Nonna and Nonno have still been here. Our house has been full and very busy!
My Auntie C's is really fun to have around and she played with me a lot!  We went for a couple of really nice hikes while she was here (in Cathedral Hills and to Rainie Falls). I was really a trooper and hiked a lot (at least 2 miles out of 4 on our way in and out to Rainie)... Mommy and Daddy were super proud of me.  We got some new baby peep-peeps while everyone was here and I was really excited to hold them so everyone could take turns petting them.  All of the activity really wore my mommy out so the last day my Auntie was here we just laid low around the house. That was fine with me because we played in the sand box and built a make believe pirate ship in a pile of gravel daddy had! Yo-Ho!
We also celebrated Uncle Frankie and Pica's birthdays while they were here with a really nice dinner and a yummy birthday cake that I helped mommy make. I served the cake myself with candles and everything!

Maddox:
I have been spoiled rotten this week! I got to meet a lot more family this week... My grandpa (they call him Pica for some reason) and Grammie, and my mommies sister Auntie C that came all the way from New Jersey... And as a result of the full house, I never got put down! I'm not complaining but my mommy is definitely gonna suffer as a result!
They did a lot of fun stuff this week and I got to go along. Most of the time I hung out in the carrier on my mommy and slept so I didn't see much but it was nice to go along.
Over all, what I remember is a lot of snuggle time!

Funny stuff

Maren:
The last two weeks have been a bit crazy. Baby brother eats every few hours so mommy doesn't get much sleep. Daddy and Nonna have been really great helping out so that mommy can rest when Maddox does and Nonna has been helping her keep up with house work.
Unfortunately, a couple of days after baby brother got home I came down with a head cold. The doctor told mommy and daddy that I shouldn't touch him so I haven't been able to hold him at all!  If I washed my hands I was allowed to touch his feet and I could kiss him on the very top of his head. Being sick is a real bummer.
My mommy has been really trying hard to spend quality time with me so I don't feel left out now that there is a new baby in the house and we have done lots of fun stuff. It rained really hard here the other day and afterwards mommy and I went for a walk. We found some really big puddles and splashed and splashed and splashed until I was soaking wet!! We walked all the way down the hill from our house in the ditches... I thought it was great fun!!  I also have gone on some really fun adventures with daddy while mommy has been napping. We went to the Grange to buy some baby "peep-peeps" and daddy bought me a new cowboy hat!  I like my new hat so much that I wore it to help mommy bake bread the other day!
Valentines Day is this weekend and we are having a party at my school to celebrate. Mommy helped me make special valentines for all of the kids in my class and my special teachers. I had lots of fun cutting out the hearts and sticking stickers on them.
I said some pretty funny things this week that mommy wants to remember:  one time mommy and I were laying on the bed with baby brother and I got up and started bouncing around. Mommy told me to be careful because we could really hurt him and possibly break one of his arms/legs if we stepped on him. I told her that it was no problem cuz we could just fix them... To which she replied "yes, but if we step on him we could hurt him so bad that he could die". Again, I had a solution... " that's okay mommy. If he dies we can just plug him in like we do Santa Clause" (our big inflatable Santa come right back to life every time!!).
Another cute thing I said this week... "Mommy, my belly has a head ache."

Maddox:
I am officially two weeks old today! I had my two week check up yesterday and am growing really well. I weighed in at 8lbs 6oz and mommy was really happy. Doctor said the goal is for me to be back at birth weight by two weeks so I obviously beat that by a long shot! I have been such an easy baby so far and have my family completely smitten.
Unfortunately I was circumcised at this appointment and I didn't appreciate that too much. Since coming home I have been pretty restless and sometimes cry inconsolably (especially when I go potty). Mommy was able to give me some Tylenol and that helped a little.
This next week is going to be pretty big... I have lots of people coming to visit. Pica, Grammie and my auntie C will all be here tonight!
