Christmas is such a magical time of year around here. Mommy and daddy do so much to make the holiday special... I really love it! Our month has been full of fun activities! We started an annual tradition by going to the Nutcracker Ballet again this year. Mommy, Nonna, and I spent the morning shopping before the ballet and then we went out and had a nice dinner. While we were at the ballet, I got another nutcracker to start my own collection. This year I chose the one that I got to paint... I made him beautiful and sparkly with lots of glitter. We also finally got our Christmas tree put up. I helped mommy decorate the house the last week in November but we have been so busy that we just didn't have time to get a tree. Mommy finally put her foot down and said.... "we are getting a tree! It isn't Christmas in this house until we have one!" We all loaded up into daddy's truck and drove up the hill behind our house until mommy spotted the perfect one. Then, daddy started up his big chain saw and cut it down for her! It was pretty chilly outside so mommy made us cocoa when we got home and then I got to stay up late to help decorate it.
The following weekend daddy planned a special trip to Bend to celebrate mommy's birthday. We stayed in a place called Sun River and had lots of fun. There was TONS of snow and huge ice-sickles everywhere! We took our brand new toboggan sled with us that Pica and Grammy got us for an early Christmas present and it was awesome! So, we did lots of sledding and playing in the snow, we went for a sleigh ride by the Deschutes River, went swimming in the indoor pool, and ate lots of good food and special treats. It was a wonderful weekend and I was sad to go home.
Once we got back home we were on the final countdown to Christmas! I woke up every day and reminded mommy just how many days were left until the big day. When it came... it was just as wonderful as I expected it to be. Santa came and filled our house full of snowy foot prints! He left us a Dune Buggy to drive outside and a stocking full of goodies (including some amazing face and hair paints that I decorated everyone with that day)! I got super spoiled by everyone... some of my favorite gifts were: a beanbag made by mommy, a Belle costume from my Auntie C's, an easy Bake Oven from my Nonna and Nonno, a new fancy stroller for my babies from mommy and daddy, some new clothes for my babies from Nonna, and a Caboodle full of my own fingernail polish from my Grandma Ronnie. I also got new riding pants and boots for horse lessons and lots of other little goodies! We spent all day on Christmas playing games and just spending time together as a family.
Maddox:
I think Christmas is pretty cool! I love all of the lights and like to tell everyone the colors that I see! When we are driving I will shout out from the back seat "Baloo Wight, Lellow Wight, Neen Wight, Puhple Wight!" What ever color I see at the time! Even though I am fascinated by Santa (I call him Nanta) I am terrified of him too! I won't go anywhere near him if he is any bigger than doll size! Sparkle has been hanging around the house again this year and I love to help sissy find her every morning. Once, I accidentally touched her! Maren was really mad at me for it but I was so curious! Mommy said that Nanta understands when babies touch her sometimes and wouldn't take her magic away. But boy, I never did that again after seeing the way it affected my sister!
Sissy already mentioned our trip to Bend... I had a really fun time and everyone was really proud of how good I did in the cold weather. They would get me all bundled up and I would keep my mittens and my hat on to keep myself nice and warm. When we went sledding I just kept asking for more! More! More! The only thing I didn't really enjoy over the weekend was the swimming pool. The water was super cold and it wasn't long before my lips were blue!
The big day of Christmas came and I was the first to wake up. I was up just before six and wouldn't fall back to sleep. By 6:15 I had everyone in the house up and was asking for oatmeal. I was easily distracted by the presents when we got down stairs but that lasted for about 5 minutes. Mommy made me a bowl of oatmeal and I sat in daddy's lap to eat it while everyone opened their stockings. It took me a few times but after a bit I had the present unwrapping all figured out. Some of my favorite gifts were: the Tonka fire-truck from mommy and daddy, the bean bag my mommy made me, the car back pack from my sissy, the car crocks from mommy and daddy, the race track rug and car set from Auntie C's, and the ride on fire-truck from my Grandma Ronnie. I got lots of other fun stuff from lots of other people too.
Now we are winding down the year and mommy is starting to think about my birthday which is just
around the corner!
