Maren:
Unfortunately right before my birthday this year I got sick again and developed another abscess in my tonsil. Thankfully mommy caught it right away when I started talking about my throat hurting only on one side. After a lot of discussion with the doctors we decided it was probably best to have my tonsils taken out. I had surgery the first week of September and was pretty under the weather for a few days. The only benefit??? LOTS and LOTS of ice cream, pudding, and pop sickles!
School looks quite a bit different for us this year but we are back at it. Mommy pulled us out of Rogue River and enrolled us in a new project based learning school called Crater Academy Magnet Program, or CAMP for short. I am really excited about the program because I will be in a class with 3rd-5th graders! I am really hoping that it will help challenge me in the ways that I haven't been over the last few years. Unfortunately, due to Covid we are distance learning, which means that we are doing everything from home. We didn't find that out until just a few weeks before school actually started so Mommy went into a frenzy! Given what a mess it was last year for home school she and daddy really wanted us to have a schedule that was consistent. Thankfully, mommy found out that one of our old Sonshine teachers has her kiddos in the CAMP program as well. Mommy called her and ended up hiring her to come out and help "teach" us. Miss Amanda will be coming out to our house Tuesday-Thursday each week to help us get our work done so that mommy and daddy can go to work and not stress out.
My teacher Miss Van Blom is really nice and super funny. I get to see her and my other class mates each morning when we have our class time from 8-11. Dominick, Amandas son, is in my class too and comes out with her the three days she is with us. She also brings her two year old grand son Kaspen with her! I really love playing with him and having him around!

I am officially a kindergartner! I was so super excited to start school this year and be in Ms. Safko's class but things are a bit different than what I had expected. Since we changed schools I won't get to be with Ms. Safko but, she has promised to help me out when and if I need it so all will be well. Initially I was really disappointed about the school change but then when I found out we were going to a school called "CAMP" I figured that it couldn't be all that bad!
It definitely isn't the best deal but our teachers are trying really hard. I have an "in class" meeting every morning from 8-11 where my teacher Miss Jenny reads to us, helps us with art projects and writing, we have share time and other fun stuff. Once a week we even have music class with Mr. Mills. Overall, I am working really hard and learning some too. Not bad for a 5 year old doing school in a very nontraditional way.
