April Fun

Maren:

This year daddy signed us up to play spring ball.  I am on a girls' softball team called the Apple Blossoms and he is my coach!  I've never played a lot of ball before, so I still have a lot to learn but the other girls on my team are really nice and we are having a lot of fun.  Daddy does a really good job with our team and is a really patient teacher.  His biggest difficulty... remembering everyone's name!  We are all about the same height and size and we all have long blond or brown hair!  Its pretty fun to hear him call out two or three names before he gets the right one!  We started the season out with a few practices a week, then had a really great opening ceremony to kick of the official season.

Easter was mid-month this year and once again the Easter Bunny made an appearance.  Our baskets were full of new summer stuff... swimsuits, water sandals, flip flops and shorts.  But, the biggest present came from mommy and daddy when they told us we were getting a swimming pool!  We were beyond excited of course!   We had a nice morning at home finding the eggs that were hidden for us, we went to church with Nonna and Nonno, and then we went to their house for a nice Easter dinner.

As the year is wrapping up there have been a lot of fun field trip options.  One of the most fun things we got to do as an entire program was bowling.  Mommy got to come along as a chaperone and even bowled with us!  It was so much fun.  Unfortunately, it also served as a "super spreader" event and a bunch of kids, including me, became really sick a few days after.  I was running a very high temperature for about 5 days, recovered for a few and then relapsed back into it for a few more.  Major bummer!

At the end of the month mommy left us for a few days to go on her annual girls trip.  This year, Miss Andrea, Miss Paige, and Aunt Michelle went along with her to Mexico.  They were gone for 5 days and had a great time!

Maddox:

Like Maren said, we signed up for spring ball this year.  I am on a coach pitch boy's team called the Water Boys and I am absolutely having a blast.  We all have lots to learn but are working really hard and trying our best.  I am loving the sport even more than I liked wrestling and think I'm gonna be a pro ball player someday!

Right at the beginning of the month we loaded our camper for the first road trip of the season and headed over to Sunset Bay.  We have been wanting to get back there ever since our first trip a few years ago.  This was officially Clementines first camping trip ever AND her first trip to the beach!  It was so much fun to watch her run and play at the edge of the ocean (she wasn't super stoked to go all the way in) and watch her chase the seagulls.  She and Jo had a great time playing together.  The weather wasn't the best while we were there... it was cold and pretty windy, but that didn't stop me from having a great adventure!

This year our school is offering a really neat elective option and it is all taught by parents of students in the program.  Mommy and daddy are teaming up to teach a course called "Life Skills."  Two of my best buddies, Chase and Jacob, have signed up to take it with me.  Plus, we have Lily, Emma and Brody Oppelt in there with us too! In all, their are 12 kids.  The first week we learned how to make a very simple and basic stew.  Mommy and daddy taught us how to chop veggies and cook over a stove.  We did all the prep and then enjoyed the meal together at the end.

The very last weekend of the month Mommy and I got to dress up and go on a very special date.  I put on a very nice suit/vest combo and looked very sharp!  This was the first annual "Mother-Son Formal Dance."  I will admit that I didn't want to go and mommy had to really work to convince me.  The tipping point... my best friend Chase was also attending and that sealed it for me!  I ended up having an absolute ball and danced the entire night, non-stop!  I kept looking at mommy and saying "This is so much more fun than I thought it would be!"
