The Wonderful Month of May

Maren:

Our school year is winding down and spring is in full swing.  We have had TONS of spring rain this year which has made playing softball really difficult.  My first 7 games were rained out!  Daddy has been trying to get us out and playing as much as the weather will allow so we can keep working on our skills as much as possible.  Once we were finally able to play some games we had a really great time.  I have made some good friends on my team and am having a lot of fun.

At the beginning of the month mommy had her annual girls trip to Mexico.  Andrea, and Paige went with her again and this year they took Aunt Michelle!  It sounds like they had a really great time and we were only a little bit jealous that they got to go back without us.  They stayed at a resort that was just down the beach from where we were at Christmas time...

During the month of May we also get to celebrate Mommy and Nonna on Mother's Day.  This year we also got to share the day with Aunt Michelle.  She has become so very special to us and it was nice to honor her and her role as an amazing mom.

Right after Maddox's big classroom camp trip that he talks about we came home, re-packed and turned right back around for a Dads and Kids only raft trip down the John Day River.  Since mommy wasn't there we don't have any pictures to show for the trip BUT we do have a lot of great memories!  The Oppelt, Clelland, Campbell, and Guinn kiddos came along for the trip and we had a blast.  Five full days of eating complete junk food and no teeth brushing!

Maddox:

While Maren has had really bad luck with the weather my baseball schedule has not been as severely affected.  I've had a few games rained out but we've still managed to make it out on the field a bit.  My skills are getting better every day and I'm having lots of fun playing.

We got to go on a very, very special camping trip this month with most of the kids from my class!  Miss Jenny organized a camping trip up at Lost Creek Lake.  It was right before our raft trip with Daddy which made a bit of extra work for him but we loaded up our camper and had a great time.  Most of the kids in my class went and we had a wonderful weekend.  Our campsite was right near the playground and ended up being the place where most people congregated!  We also hosted dinner at our campsite both of the nights we were there and roasted marshmallows.  Miss Jenny planned a couple of really cool activities, like a hike to a local waterfall, a fire safety/fire starting challenge, and a glow stick parade (my personal favorite).   The day we got back from the camping trip and were unloading the camper mommy came across some mammoth sized morel mushrooms!  A few of them were bigger than my hands!  We were so excited to find them!
