January is here and I am already looking forward to spring and the end of the school year. We have yet to have snow this year, but just after school started again after winter break we had a good storm that brought frosty temperatures and a bit of snow in the valley. It was enough to cause school to be canceled for a few days in a row. Everyone loves a snow day! One of the days both mommy and daddy had to work but we got to spend the day up at the Oppelt house. We had lots of fun sledding and having snowball fights with our friends.
One of the gifts I got for Christmas this year from my Pica and Grammie was my very own riding pad for when I go to riding lessons. Mommy picked a pad out in one of my very favorite colors, teal, and I also got a cute matching little bonnet for Phoenix to wear! I was so excited about the pad and hat and my boy Phoenix looks so very handsome with it on.
This month at school I received an award entitled "Best Self". Ms. Gordon selected me for the award in recognition of my kindness towards my peers and because I am always willing to help my classmates with their schoolwork. That same day I also received an award from my bus driver for having such good behavior while I'm on the bus!

Now that Christmas is over all I can talk about is my upcoming birthday... I am so excited to be five! I really love the cool parties that mommy throws for Maren in the summer time and have decided that I too want to have a water slide birthday. Unfortunately, January is not the best month for water slides so mommy gave me the option to wait for my party until the summer. Sissy and I think it will be pretty cool to have one huge party with all of our friends present at the same time and we are already plotting about what kind of theme we want to have. For my birthday now I asked to go sledding, so we rented a cabin up at Hyatt Lake for the weekend. We got to take Xxander with us and Uncle Frankie came along. We had a great weekend! There was a ton of snow on the ground which made for great sledding. We spent two whole days up at the hill and were pretty wiped out afterwards. Mommy and daddy made our special nachos for Saturday and we had a nacho movie night! Mommy also made a yummy lemon cake for Uncle Frankie and I to celebrate our birthdays.
