Maren: June is finally here which means that summer break is days away! We have been looking forward to the start of summer because its packed with fantastic plans! Softball is winding down for the season with our last few games and our skills are really improving. Daddy put together a parents vs. kids game which was also a blast! We capped off the end of our season by participating in the Gold Dust Days parade and closing ceremony to honor our achievements. We had a lot of fun in the parade handing candy out to the on-lookers!
School ended the third week of June and we had a lot of fun activities to cap off the year. Although I was excited for school to end, it was bittersweet because I had to say goodbye to Ms. Van Blom. She has become a very special friend and teacher and I am really sad to see her go.
Just one week after school ended we had a huge event that we have been anticipating for a long time. Uncle Frankie and Miss Michelle got married and we officially have another Aunt! The festivities started on Thursday with an amazing barbeque at their house where we got to meet all of Aunt Michelle's nieces and nephews. We instantly made friends with all of them which made our weekend so much more fun! Friday night we had the rehearsal dinner at the wedding venue, followed by the ceremony on Saturday. Mommy did a reverse french braid in my hair with a halo of curls at the top. I looked like a princess in my pretty dress and felt so beautiful. Aunt Michelle invited mommy and I to come early to hang out while she and her sisters got ready and I loved sitting and watching her have her makeup and hair done. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and was followed by a really nice reception. We had such a great time dancing until the very last song! Our family is bigger now with lots of new cousins that we can't wait to see again!
Maddox: Thank goodness summer is almost here. I have enjoyed school but I am really ready for the year to end. I played my last few games of baseball and have really gotten better. I am catching and hitting really consistently... I think baseball is my new favorite sport and I'm already making plans for next season. My team got to participate in the parade too but instead of handing out candy we squirted people with water guns! Well...we are the "Water Boys!"
Our first big trip of the summer has been planned for a while and we have all been so excited. Hayden was graduating from high school and we were all going to fly over to be there. Unfortunately, daddy and I came down with Covid two days before we were supposed to go and we had to cancel. Mommy was so upset and cried really hard when she found out. Seeing that broke my heart! I was completely convinced that it was all my fault that the trip was derailed since I got sick first. Daddy tried to convince mommy that she should take Maren and go without us which made me cry really hard. After a few moments, with big fat tears streaming down my face, I bravely told mommy that it was ok, that I wanted her and sissy to go without me. Well, that made mommy cry even harder! She was so proud of my bravery and kindness but (thankfully!!) refused to go without me.
Sissy mentioned Uncle Frankie and Aunt Michelle's wedding event that came just one short week after school ended. It was a wonderful distraction from the sadness we were all still feeling from not going to Pennsylvania and we had a great time. Aunt Michelle has two sisters and a brother with a total of 7 kiddos between them. So, including Micah and James we have a whole new big family! I became instant friends with one of the boys named Ben and we were inseparable the whole weekend. We had a blast playing together and dancing at the wedding.
