Christmas Time is a Happy Time!

Maren:

December is finally here and Christmas is just around the corner.  We are anxiously awaiting Jesus' birthday and Santas arrival!

Unfortunately with Covid this year we were not able to have breakfast with Santa but mommy has still made a lot of effort to make Christmas magical.  We all did our annual tree hunt just up the hill from our house and this year I picked a cute little fir tree for my room.  We spent the day together as a family getting all of the decorations out and were just about to start on the tree when the power went out.  It put a damper on our night but we didn't let it dampen our spirits and just finished decorating the next day.

This year for Christmas mommy helped me make a very special gift for everyone in the family.  I picked out the fabric and together we made pajama bottoms for everyone that matched.  It was a super fun project and the pants were a huge success.  Everyones fit really well and we all looked so cute!

Once again, we woke up to a very special Christmas Day surprise from Santa.  We were really wishing for a trip again this year but never expected to go somewhere with Covid around.  On Christmas morning we woke up to another letter telling us to pack our bags and head to Hyatt Lake!  We spent a bit of time with Daddy opening stockings and a few gifts before he had to go to work then finished up with the remainder of the gifts.  I got some really great things.... clothes, new boots, a baby Yoda, some Barbie stuff, a Mandalorian Costume, and more.  Even though I got some really great things, I think Nonno and Nonna got the best gift of all. Mommy surprised them with a little baby French Bulldog puppy!  She was born on December 16th and will get to come home with them around February 10th.  Nonno was so surprised and happy!

Once we were done opening presents we had to rush home to pack our bags for our adventure.  But, much to our surprise, we got home and Santa had done all of the work for us.  Daddy's truck was packed with all of the snow gear, a huge cooler full of food, and SKIS!!  When we got in the house we found that our bags were all packed and just had to be loaded to go.  So, Mommy, Maddox, and I loaded up and headed to Hyatt Lake.  It started snowing like crazy on our way up there and we were so excited!  We stopped in at the resort to check things out since we weren't really sure where we were supposed to be and a nice lady named Sunshine told us that we had a cabin and were able to stay for 5 whole nights! One of the days we drove down the hill and back up to Mt. Ashland for a day of skiing.  I spent the first couple of runs with daddy and then mommy took over the teaching.  They both taught me different things and really helped me.  I fell a lot at first but by the end of the day was making it off the lift and down the hill without a single fall.  I even started to master some little turns!  I was so excited, didn't want to stop and can't wait to try again!

We  were supposed to have a big shin dig up at our house for New Years but Nonno just had surgery on his eye a few weeks ago and cant travel up to our house.  Apparently he has a gas bubble inside his eye that will expand if he goes too high!  Gross!  So, mommy and daddy decided we would spend New Years Eve in town with them again this year.  We had a great dinner and daddy set off some amazing fireworks for us.  Hopefully 2021 will be a bit better for us all!

Maddox:

Sparkle is here again this year and up to no good, as usual.  Sissy seems to think that her actions are calm but I haven't been too pleased with her!  One night, while I was having a slumber party with mommy she decided to paint my fingernails.  She was sitting on the end of the bed when we woke up with all of the polish around her but I didn't even notice.  When I got up to go potty, I washed my hands and found her work.  To say I was unhappy is an understatement.  I was furious!  And, I was terrified that it was gel polish and would never come off.  I wouldn't let mommy take a picture and I cried until she took it off!  On a positive note, Sparkle has done some other good things this year... one morning she left me a note and asked me to read to her!  I really liked that!  She also broke into our leftover halloween candy one night and ate a bunch of it but she paid the price the next day and was stuck in bed sick.  Maybe she will learn her lesson!

This year I also got to make a special gift for everyone in the family.  Mommy helped me make matching shirts to go with the PJ bottoms Maren made.  Neither of us knew about the other persons project and we were so surprised to see it all come together.  In the end, we all had a set of matching PJ's to wear on Christmas Eve.  I was really proud of my work and how great the shirts all turned out.

Christmas was awesome and I was super spoiled.  Mommy made me a brand new stocking this year out of the deer hide from my Great Grandpa Bill and Santa filled it with tons of great things.  I got lots of great gifts but I think my favorite gift came from Auntie C's cuz she gave me a Mandalorian Costume!  I was so super excited and didn't take it off for the rest of the day!  I even decorated cookies in it when we got to the cabin!  We were super excited to get our letter from Santa again this year and even more excited when we got to the cabin.  There was tons of snow up at Hyatt Lake and even more was coming while we were on our way.  We spent five nights and both Maren and I agreed that it was better than last years trip to Great Wolf Lodge... or at least just as much fun!  Daddy showed up after our first night there and we all had a wonderful time.  We had brand new tubes for sledding that were the fastest on the hill and we even got to try our hand at skiing.  I had fun for the first few runs but then quickly had enough.  Mommy and daddy realized that starting me out on shorter skis would probably have been better as I got frustrated pretty quickly.  Overall, we had a great stay at the cabin with tons of good food, lots of lego time, great movie nights, and hot tub time.  We can't wait to go back again!
